THE WAY WE GROW

Their world is small.
Their possibilities
aren’t.

The earliest years are full of firsts. We believe they deserve a setting that feels as warm and personal as the milestones themselves.

Get to know April
01 /

Connection comes first.

Warm, attentive relationships help little ones feel seen. A smaller group makes space to notice each child’s cues, interests, and developing independence.

02 /

Play is a way of learning.

Books, music, sensory experiences, and age-appropriate exploration follow each child’s interests. April observes their language, movement, thinking, and social-emotional development to shape meaningful learning experiences.

03 /

A gentle rhythm to the day.

Consistent, caring routines balance exploration with time to rest and reconnect. Gentle guidance uses connection, redirection, and developmentally appropriate choices as little ones learn new skills.

THE HEART OF THE HOUSE

Meet April.
Care with intention.

“April” is short for Aprilia. The April House is her small beginning for your child’s big ones.

April brings a Master of Business Administration, previous teaching experience in Maryland, and experience in childcare, early childhood education, and classroom routines to her work with young children.

Her approach is warm and attentive: getting to know each child, making space for curiosity, and bringing a thoughtful rhythm to the day.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FAMILIES

A closer connection.
Every day.

Care works best with open, thoughtful communication. We use brightwheel and Wyze to help enrolled families stay connected, with access and permissions arranged privately.

FAMILY COMMUNICATION

Little updates,
through brightwheel.

April shares daily information and stays in touch with families through brightwheel. With written permission, photos and videos may also be shared as the day allows.

The number and timing of photos and videos vary with the day’s activities and children’s needs. Photo permissions are reviewed during enrollment.

PRIVATE PARENT ACCESS

A window into the day,
through Wyze.

Authorized enrolled parents or legal guardians may receive Wyze viewing access to designated childcare areas during operating hours, under the program’s written camera policy.

Our policy provides video-only viewing, with no audio or private care areas included. Families agree not to record, screenshot, download, or share the feed. Access instructions are shared privately.

READY FOR THE FIRST DAY

A little preparation.
A smoother beginning.

April reviews the full parent–provider agreement, permissions, and each child’s needs before care begins.

Pack the everyday essentials.

Labeled diapers, wipes, two complete changes of clothing, and required feeding supplies. April will confirm the individual supply list.

Share needs and permissions.

Health records, allergies, feeding needs, emergency contacts, and written permissions are reviewed privately during enrollment.

Plan arrivals and pickups.

Confirm your schedule and authorized pickup adults. Photo identification may be requested when a child is collected.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Little questions.
Thoughtful answers.

Choosing care is personal. Here are a few starting points for your family. April shares the full agreement and individual arrangements before enrollment.

Ask April a question
What ages do you care for?

The April House serves infants from 6 weeks old and toddlers under 3 years. Please share your child’s general age group when asking about availability.

What are your regular days and hours?

Regular care is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Guam time), excluding announced closures. Each family’s arrival and pickup schedule is confirmed before care begins.

Can we request extended, overnight, or weekend care?

Limited additional care may be available by advance reservation and written confirmation, subject to provider availability, approved capacity, age ratios, and program requirements. Ask April about current dates and any Give Parents a Break or drill-weekend eligibility. A request does not confirm a booking.

Are meals and snacks provided?

Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are offered using age-appropriate feeding practices. Infant feeding follows individual hunger and fullness cues. Please discuss allergies, dietary requirements, breast milk, formula, and other feeding needs privately with April before care begins.

How do you support sleep and rest?

Infants follow their individual sleep needs in approved sleep spaces under the program’s safe-sleep requirements. Toddlers are offered a rest or quiet period after lunch. Children are not required to sleep; a safe, calm alternative is offered.

How will we hear about our child’s day?

Daily information and family communication are shared through brightwheel. With written permission, photos and videos may also be shared as time permits. Their number and timing vary with the children’s needs and the day’s activities.

Can enrolled parents view the cameras?

Authorized enrolled parents or legal guardians may receive Wyze access under the written camera policy. Viewing is limited to designated childcare areas during operating hours and follows a video-only, no-audio policy; private areas are excluded. Login details must stay confidential, and families must not record, screenshot, download, post, or share any part of the feed. April reviews consent and access arrangements privately.

What should we bring?

Families provide labeled diapers, wipes, at least two complete changes of clothing, and required feeding supplies. April confirms any additional items and permissions needed for your child during enrollment.

How are health and illness handled?

A brief wellness observation takes place at arrival. Illness, medication, allergy, and return-to-care requirements are reviewed with families before care begins. Parents must remain reachable and keep emergency contacts current; a child who becomes ill may need prompt pickup.

What happens before enrollment?

We begin with a conversation about your family’s needs, current availability, and a possible visit. Before care starts, families complete required records, permissions, and the parent–provider agreement. The first two weeks are a mutual trial period to help your child settle in and assess the fit together. Detailed terms are shared privately.

How do I ask about tuition and availability?

Tuition and current openings are discussed privately with each family. Email April to ask about current openings, or use the form below when it is available. Share only a general age group and preferred start period. An inquiry does not reserve a space or confirm enrollment.

Can we arrange a visit?

A visit can be discussed directly with April during the inquiry process. Visits are arranged in advance; our residential address is shared privately when appropriate.

Is The April House Navy FCC approved?

Yes. The April House is an approved home-based Navy Family Child Care program. It is independently operated. This website does not imply official U.S. Navy or Department of Defense endorsement.

What about holidays and planned closures?

Regular care is closed on federally observed holidays and announced closure days. Families receive closure information and should arrange backup care. Any separately approved additional care must be confirmed in writing.

Where are you located?

We are based in Mangilao, Guam. To protect our family’s and enrolled children’s privacy, the home’s street address is not published on this website.
